Following the Gaudi Trail in Barcelona, Spain: The Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell

The fact that Barcelona, Spain, was recently ranked ninth among the top ten traveller destinations in the world confirms why millions of tourists continue to visit this dynamic city every year. Barcelona, renowned for its architecture, lively atmosphere, culture, abogada de familia and global outlook, is also well known for being the birthplace of the late Antonio Gaudi Cornet, who is regarded by many as one of the greatest architects of the last two centuries.

It is imperative to make an effort to see at least one of Gaudi's numerous creations while in Barcelona because he had such a significant impact on the city's architecture and some of the buildings are truly magnificent. Finding a weekend getaway should be simple because there are so many airlines and vacation providers providing ticket bargains to Barcelona all year long.

Santuario de la Familia (Holy Family)

Unquestionably one of Gaudi's finest works of art, this magnificent church is still a work in progress. He started working on the project in 1884, residing there while it was being constructed. The exterior of this massive structure has the Apse, Crypt, and Nativity Facade, all of which were constructed under Gaudi's supervision. The remainder of the building has been overseen by his coworkers since his death in 1926. In 2026, the project is anticipated to be completed. The Sagrada Familia is a UNESCO World Heritage site and, despite not being complete, was recently consecrated as a minor basilica by Pope Benedict (Nov 2010).

Eight of the eighteen enormous spires, or eight of the intended twelve apostles.

Have already been constructed. The other six spires will stand for the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, and four other evangelists. Plaça de la Sagrada Familia, Mallorca, 401, 08013 Barcelona is where you can find the Sagrada Familia. Nearby tube stations and numerous bus companies offer tours to see this magnificent structure. Get there early and be prepared to wait in line because it gets busy quickly, especially during the busiest summer months.

A.P.C. Guell

Originally designed by Gaudi as a park for the Barcelona nobility and commissioned by Don Esebio Guell, Parc Guell is a very well-known garden city.

The park is surrounded by a wall and has two entrance lodges.

It is located on a sizable hill, so if you plan to visit, be prepared for a steep climb up. In the park, there are two houses, one of which houses the Gaudi Museum and was Gaudi's home from 1906 to 1908. The well-known dragon statue is located at the park's entrance on the main flight of stairs. Since this is also the main entrance to the park and is close to the Museum, many tourists stop to have their pictures taken here. The park is worth visiting just for the view because it has an amazing vantage point over Barcelona city from where it is located up on the hill.
