It Doesn't Matter ALL THAT Much.

You'd think that by now, business owners and the individuals they employ to operate their companies would understand it. The seventh anniversary of 9/11 is in one month, abogada de familia but as I type this, I can still hear the final... It kept echoing in my ears, "It's not that big of an issue."

Do you recall watching the Sopranos' penultimate season on HBO a few years ago? 

I love the criminal drama because I'm from Jersey and because I grew up in a community where the Italian population was predominate. Tony's "familia" is constantly searching for innovative, intriguing, and unlawful ways to maintain the standard of living to which he, Carmela, Meadow, and AJ have grown used.

Tony's nephew and recently appointed Capo (captain), Christopher Moltasante, is involved in one of those frauds. In all of Jersey, Chris and his group are swiping credit card details and selling them to two very dubious men of Middle Eastern descent.

Recall how the fraud nearly caused the closure of poor Artie Bucco's restaurant? 

His merchant account was terminated by American Express. He challenged them and began to lose faith in them. It turns out that his hostess, one of his most reliable employees, was secretly skimming the cards and delivering them to her mafia lover. On her way to a pair of pricey new shoes, another hostess dropped a cent.

Consider the scene where a member of Chris' crew retrieves.

The skimmer from the observant Jewish motel owner. He briefly looks up from his prayer book to accept the large envelope of cash and hand over the skimmer before returning to his book of prayers. It only appears briefly on the screen. Consider the irony of the situation: A Jew is receiving funds from men of Middle Eastern dissent (possibly terrorists) through the mob in exchange for stolen credit cards that could be used by other men of Middle Eastern dissent to purchase missiles and launch them into Israel or fund other terrorist acts anywhere in the world, including the United States. If only we could all work together so well on constructive, inspiring projects.

Executive producer of the programme David Chase grabbed it at that point.

But what connection can be made between 9/11 and a fictional television show? Mr. Chase produced an almost documentary about how identity theft supports terrorists through his television programme. He was accurate. But what was causing a stir? Why is the "gay capo"? The "it" I'm referring to is Identity Theft, and I want you to repeat after me, "it's not that big of a deal."

The planes that they later hijacked, and using stolen identities, they deliberately crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a small field in Pennsylvania. The planning and execution of those attacks were funded in large part by credit card fraud (financial identity theft), which included the fabrication of documents that permitted these men to study to fly and live and work among us.
