Macau's World Heritage Trail

The biggest asset of Macau is its rich Portuguese past, which coexisted with Chinese traditions and beliefs for almost 500 years. Since it was recently recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, many of the historic buildings in Macau's Historic Center have undergone beautiful restorations. Make sure you walk the "Macau World Heritage Trail" while you are in Macau, whether it is for a short visit or a longer stay (if you don't have the time, live draw macau at least check out the trail's important sights).

The legend of A-Ma, the fabled protector of mariners and one of Hong Kong's and Macau's most beloved deities, saving a party of fishermen from a deadly storm is where the town of Macau had its start hundreds of years ago (known as Tin Hau in Hong Kong).

Some other notable sites along the ancient road include the St. Joseph's Seminary and Church, St. Augustine's Square (Largo de Santo Agostinho), Senado Square (Largo do Senado), Santo Domingo Church, and the Ruins of St. Paul's.

fantastic restaurants

Without dining at some of the city's must-try spots, a visit to Macau wouldn't be complete... Hundreds of years of Portuguese influence resulted in a distinctive Macanese cuisine that combines the finest of Portuguese cuisine with elements of Chinese and Cantonese food. Popular restaurants on a global scale include Fernando's, A-Lorcha, and Clube Militar. Alfonso Iaccarino's Don Alfonso 1890 and Joel Robuchon's Robuchon a Galera are two further expensive restaurants.

The Islands are Taipa and Coloane.

Visit the islands of Taipa and Coloane if you want to see how the people of Macau used to live in the past. The so-called "villages" still have their original meandering streets, antique houses, little Chinese temples, and little craft shops where once extinct trades are being practised.
