Restaurants in Macau where You Can Get the Best Macanese Food

Despite its reputation as "the Vegas of the Orient" and the throngs of tourists who frequent its ostentatious and gaudy casinos, the city's unique "culinary attraction" is the distinct Macanese cuisine, which developed over hundreds of years of Portuguese colonialism and combines Portuguese cooking traditions with Chinese influences.

You can visit some of the greatest restaurants in Macau and savour wonderful Macanese and Portuguese food by following the guidelines in this article.

one of Macau's most popular restaurants.

Nearby attractions include the Macau Maritime Museum, the A-Ma Temple, and A Lorcha, which many consider to serve the "greatest Portuguese dinner outside of Portugal." This fairly small Portuguese-Macanese restaurant has excellent food, warm service, live draw macau and a lovely, straightforward setting.

for example, Chourico Assado (char-grilled Portuguese chorizo).

Among the signature meals are Bacalhau com Natas and pan-fried mussels with garlic (bacalhau with potato in cream sauce). It is very unlikely that you will order anything new incorrectly, so don't be afraid to try it.

Another famous restaurant in Macau is Restaurante Fernando (or Fernando's, as it is more widely known). Fernando is cosy and rustic, with simple bamboo furniture and a beautiful outside dining area that is surrounded by vegetation. It is tucked away on Hac sa Beach on Coloane Island, one of Macau's greenest and most tranquil areas.

Fernando's specialty is Portuguese-style BBQ (meat and seafood).

Freshly made Portuguese bread is offered, though the entire meal is excellent. There is a lovely outdoor bar right outside the restaurant where you may have a drink before or after supper. Here's a quick tip: Avoid visiting Fernando's on weekends because it can get very busy and doesn't accept reservations in advance.

Few restaurants can match Clube Militar for a lavish and romantic evening that fully captures the splendour of colonial Macau. Clube Militar is housed in a neo-classical 1870s structure next to the renowned Lisboa and was previously a club for colonial army chiefs. Elegant white tablecloths and a polished wood floor can be seen in the interior, which is quite grand. Traditional Portuguese cuisine makes up the majority of the menu, and lunch is a buffet so you may try a variety of foods.
